Customer Area
Capacitive Touch Sensors
To support increasingly sophisticated touchscreen functionality, Capacitive Touch sensors are becoming higher resolution. This in turn requires a greater number of silver tracks around the perimeter of each sensor. To minimise the "dead" border area around each touch panel, the width and pitch of these silver tracks is critical.
ELK is a technology leader in this area. Through refining our manufacturing processes and materials, ELK has progressively reduced the required pitch for silver tracks on our Capacitive Touch sensors. We are currently in mass production of 0.15mm pitch (0.07mm tracks with 0.08mm gaps). We are supplying 0.1mm pitch in mass production from mid-2010. In the lab, we have produced 0.06mm pitch silver tracks and plan to introduce this into mass production over the next 12 months.
There is no price premium for our "fine pitch" silver tracks.
- ELK currently offers Capacitive Touch sensors with a silver track pitch of 0.1mm
- ELK plans to offer a silver track pitch off 0.06mm
- During 2009 ELK has introduced camera-based cutting and printing alignment into our manufacturing process
